sir co:

Forwarded this message to the class not to humiliate the poster of the topic (found here and the followup here), but since I assume some of you might share this person's sentiments I feel the need to address it once and for all. Read his posts to view the context.

You see Rock I tire of writing back, you must reply by saying it to my face, or you can stay quiet and we'll leave it as it is. I see you're having CS21 this summer, and once again you find yourself with me, like it or not, as your lecture instructor. Ironic as it seems, you may yet get the chance to prove my simple premise wrong, that I flunked you because you deserve it (with figures to back it up). Or maybe you are right, I give grades based on personality, just to be fair to you. But by then, I hope you will gained the insight to appreciate the next paragraph.

Funny thing is, you will come to learn that if you're looking for a teacher that will babysit you here in UP, you won't find a lot... It's much more fruitful to look in the mirror first and see what you can do to bring your grades up to par with my standards. Here are some facts: This is UP. My teaching style is unassailable, my terms of service here are not in the students' hands (though you can, as a least option obviously, try to hurt me using the student evaluation of teacher. As a matter of principle I don't care one bit). And unfortunately if being stern and austere is what I am then you don't have the power to change it. If you think this is arrogance, now ask your classmates who passed CS21, did they pass because I liked them? I gave many a low grade, but I did give certain people high grades. Ask yourself why they got the grades they've wanted, but why you got a failing mark.

I know "outstanding teachers" that are nothing more than ordinary, when viewed in a certain way. Heck, as an undergrad I breezed past teachers here that you say are like me, and even made it as a teacher myself. You can't say I put them under a spell or something, can you? You don't even know my credentials. Now, what have you done so far?

If you can't live with these facts, maybe this isn't the school for you. Now, if you please, just move on with it and do what you think you have to. You are welcome with your concern and constructive criticism, but I'm doing well trying to best to improve without anyone's help. You should do the same too. This talk is over as far I am concerned.

P.S. And by the way, my blogs are for everyone interested, and I don't see a reason why you couldn't comment on it.

sero. patay. ako ang na-suspect based on my previous previous entry. nireply ko raw sa blog niya na:

I've read most of your posts and I am not at all pleased. Do you think that by being stern and austere would make students respect you? I suppose flunking students (or giving them low marks) make you feel good about yourself. In that case, maybe you should think things through and ask yourself why the heck you are a teacher in the first place.

Or maybe you should just plain IMPROVE your teaching methods. Just a suggestion. :) This is a constructive criticism and does not aim to offend you in any way.
